A meeting of saints
Fakkad Baba — an unexpected meeting
Pilgrimages connect us not only with places, but sometimes with seekers whose life itself has become a journey.
Who is Fakkad Baba?
During the course of this sacred pilgrimage, the revered saint encountered ‘Fakkad Baba’.
According to the available accounts, Fakkad Baba is a renunciant saint who has devoted his life to visiting numerous hidden and well-known sacred pilgrimage sites with humility, selflessness, and complete detachment. He undertakes most of these pilgrimages on foot.
Sacred Attire of Fakkad Baba
A remarkable aspect of his simple and austere lifestyle is that he is said to live with only a single garment, without even carrying a spare piece of clothing in his belongings.
No Accumulation of Wealth
Whenever someone offers him money or gifts, he does not keep them for himself but passes them on to others. It is said that he does not accumulate or retain even a single rupee for himself.
No Attachment to Mobile Phones
He does not even carry a mobile phone for communication, reflecting his complete detachment from material possessions. If someone gifts him a mobile phone, he eventually passes it on to someone else.
Yet, He Carried Sacred Pilgrimage Water
In his bag, he carried holy water reverently collected and preserved during his numerous pilgrimages to sacred sites. Many of these pilgrimage sites are not widely known to the general public, and a complete, verified list of all the sources is currently unavailable.
The Grand Confluence of Sacred Waters
When Fakkad Baba learned about the sacred mission of Shri Panch Kailash Mandir, he was filled with immense joy and willingly offered the revered saint a portion of the holy water he had lovingly collected and preserved during his numerous pilgrimages, as a sacred contribution to the temple.
The spiritual significance of this encounter lies in the fact that the sacred mission of Shri Panch Kailash Mandir is bringing together not only the divine essence of the Five Kailash pilgrimage sites but also the sacred waters and spiritual memories of numerous other holy places, including both well-known pilgrimage sites and those whose details have yet to be fully documented.
The journeys were different. The pilgrims were different. The sacred pilgrimage sites were many. Yet, that portion of holy water ultimately became part of one sacred resolve dedicated to Lord Shiva.
