Adi Kailash

Every sacred pilgrimage has an outward path — and for a spiritual seeker, an inward journey as well. Remembrance of the Divine, self-discipline, truthfulness, and unwavering dedication to one's duties awaken the spirit of Sadhana (spiritual practice and inner discipline).

Our interpretation

In the Sri Panch Kailash Temple, we have associated Adi Kailash with the sentiment of "Sadhana" (spiritual practice and inner discipline). This does not claim to be any ancient classical classification, but rather the spiritual interpretation of our temple.

"From 'Adi' (The Primordial) Towards the Soul"

The rugged Himalayan environment of Adi Kailash inspires a seeker to contemplate the true meaning of the journey. To walk towards a pilgrimage, the body must take steps; but to walk towards Sadhana (spiritual practice) — the mind must take steps as well.

Sadhana is not merely difficult austerity. Dedicating a little time each day to remembering the Divine can also be Sadhana. Striving to control anger can be Sadhana. Striving to speak the truth can be Sadhana. Fulfilling one's duties with honesty can also become a part of life's Sadhana. And the effort to make oneself a little better today than yesterday can become an inward journey.

To reach Kailash, one must walk upon a path; to draw near to Shiva, one must also walk within oneself.
